🚨CALLING ALL DECRIM ADVOCATES!🚨
Another public hearing for SB 5201 has been scheduled—this time, we’ll be testifying before the Senate’s Labor & Commerce Committee after the Health & Long-Term Care Committee moved the bill forward "without recommendation." This bill is advancing, but we’ve been clear: ✨without personal use protections, we will continue to oppose it.✨ Let’s make sure lawmakers know we’re paying attention.
🗣 Public Testimony Prep – anytime before 10:30 AM tomorrow
To prepare for testimony, check out our arguments against SB 5201 at reachwa.org. Need a starting point? Try this:
“Decriminalization is a cost-free, evidence-based approach supported by leading medical organizations like the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. These experts recognize that criminal penalties do nothing to improve public health and instead fuel stigma, reduce access to harm reduction resources, and disproportionately impact marginalized communities. The reality is that people will continue using psychedelics outside of regulated centers—criminalization only increases harm by discouraging open education, limiting access to safe peer support, and making people less likely to seek help when they need it.”
📅 Senate Labor & Commerce Hearing – Tuesday, Feb 18 @ 10:30 AM (we’re last on the agenda again 🙄)
Let’s show up and make some noise! 🔥
